I just started reading the book Practical Paleo: A Customized Approach to Health and a Whole-Foods LifestyleÂ and have learned so much about why we as a country may have some of our health problems today. For example my GERD and Allergies are definitely food related and so is my eczema. The book talks about everything from sleep, processed foods to exercise. I read the whole thing in one night because it was that fascinating.
The main takeaways from the book are – we need to stop eating processed foods and start eating only foods that come straight from the farms. The saying “you are what you eat” is definitely the truth and I decided to really take my health seriously.
The best thing about the book is the fact that it has recipes that will leave you not craving for anything that you previously ate. The substitute ingredient for flour to make a chocolate cake is almond flour or almond meal, spaghetti bolognese can still be enjoyed by using spaghetti squash and so many more great ideas.
I made the spaghetti bolognese from the book tonight and it was filling and delicious. I did not miss the pasta and got a big serving of vegetables all in one go.
Here is my finished product. The proof is in the fact that my 8 year old loved it also.
