In case you are wondering what you can wear during this in between season of winter and going to be Spring soon where you are still freezing but you want to incorporate some of your spring clothing or some spring trends into your look, why not wear what is hot for spring which is a striped maritime nautical top by Gap, pair of black coated DL1961 Emma Jeans in black, and a pair of wedge sneakers by Monika Chiang. If there are two must own items this season it is the wedge sneakers and the striped top.
First the striped maritime top – the reason you must own a striped top and a striped dress this season is because stripes are classic, trendy and modern at the same time. Think Audrey Hepburn and then think Gwen Stefani – both would be seen in a striped top but the look is so versatile it can fit opposite styles.
The wedge sneaker is a must own because you can look about 3 inches taller without wearing heels during this snowy and rainy winter season. This way you won’t have to worry about getting wet from the rain or getting too cold and you can still look cool when you are out on the weekends at a bar or restaurant. Wedge sneakers come in all colors and styles so you can buy a pair that is more like a pump for those nights when you want to go out with a heel without looking like you are trying too hard. OR buy a more casual everyday wedge for those of you who want to look taller while you are strolling in Soho with your bff or boyfriend or husband or when you go to your friend’s house for a Superbowl party this Sunday. Whatever the look you want to achieve, the wedge sneaker is the way to go and here to stay.

The Monika Chiang Wedge Sneakers are definitely my favorites of all the wedge sneakers because they do not show the wedge as much as some of the other sneakers so you actually look taller without looking like you are wearing wedges if that makes sense. The Monika Chiang sneakers come in lots of fun colors as well. One of my favorites have a pink neon lace. Get the Monika Chiang sneakers for $385.
I had the pleasure of meeting Monika Chiang over a year ago when she first opened her Monika Chiang boutique on Robertson in Los Angeles and I knew from that first look that her collection was going to be a winner. What she does in her collection is gives the consumer the ability to buy pieces that they would otherwise find cost prohibitive in the marketplace. For example I own a pair of her leather pants with the side zips and the design and leather she used would have cost double from a different designer. The same goes for her Monika Chiang Neon Wedge Sneakers which are a must for winter. Similar quality and styling from a certain French designer Isabel Marant would cost $775 and that is if you can find the right color combo and size in stock since they are almost always sold out.
Monika Chiang has created a cool edgy neon wedge sneaker with just the right amount of color to give it that 80’s rapper cool with the thick laces and added the hidden 3 inch wedge to give you the height advantage you want even in a sneaker. Her sneakers are definitely very comfortable and you look so hip and stylish in them too. Celebrities have been seen wearing all color combinations and variations of these wedge sneakers and they are definitely here to stay. After all what girl does not want to be 3 inches taller without being too obvious?
Monika Chiang made an amazing pair of perennial leather pants with side ankle zips.
Black leather and ankle zips are so of the moment. The great thing about the pants, they are cropped with an inseam of  25 inches.
A great pair of pants to go out during the holidays.
What luck on election day. If you have voted, go shopping online now.
Buy the Monika Chiang leather ankle zip pants in Medium on sale at Ebay.com now for a quarter of the price. Everyone needs a pair of leather pants this holiday season. I love finding a good sale and this item is a real find for anyone who will fit this size.
Last night I went to the Monika Chiang Bagsnob shopping event on Robertson in Los Angeles. Monika Chiang was there with Bagsnobs Tina Craig and Kelly Cook to greet guests as they arrived. I caught up with Tina and Kelly and had a brief chat with Monika Chiang herself.
Monika talked to me about the inspiration for her line and what she thought was missing in the fashion marketplace. She mentioned that her travels and her own personal style influenced most of her designs. She said all the details that give something classic an edgy twist was part of the idea behind her collection.
From browsing the store, I immediately felt like she was a new edgier ToryBurch. She has 2 stores already one in New York City and one in Los Angeles. Celebrities are loving her clothing and her marketing team have all the right elements in place. Her site is beautiful and her boutiques are beautiful. Monika has thought about every detail from the pull out luxurious tabs for her shoe boxes to her jewelry that is made of brass and gold plated to give the jewelry a feeling of gold weight. And the best part of all the price points are that sweet spot that Tory Burch has hit for attainable luxury.
When you look at the clothing and accessories in the Monika Chiang boutique you immediately think will those moto leather pants be $2,300 like The Row? When you try the pants on the leather is sumptuous and the cut is perfect. The surprise is that the price is $845. Her tops are $95. Her long drape dress is $245. Her platform boots are $545 and her ballet flats are $255 and have a 2 inch hidden wedge in every pair to give you that extra height. What gal would not want to be taller? This whole concept is what is going to make her line very successful. She gets what women want and she brings it to us.
Her clothes are a mix of east coast prep and edgy downtown chic. These elements make the line unique. The cashmere and great washed leather bags give the quality that you want in a price point that you will love.
After a little research, I found out that Monika Chiang is being financed by ToryBurch’s ex husband Christopher Burch through his finance firm J Christopher that is in the process of financing 9 other fashion brands. Christopher Burch sold his first apparel company for $140M before he turned 35 and continued to invest in fashion brands. His ex wife Tory Burch’s line was also financed and launched by him. He still sits on the board as Chairman today. Monika Chiang is a smart beautiful woman with a keen design sense that she did not learn from design school. She has a great grasp of what the right marketing and positioning in an otherwise saturated crowded market can do for a lifestyle brand and partnered herself with the best in the industry. This brand is destined to become an empire. www.monikachiang.com
