Diane Von Furstenberg Perfect Black Dress

Diane Von Furstenberg Perfect Black Dress – As traveling is a big part of summer, it is always important to bring the right essentials. As a person who packs terribly for example – I always end up bringing not enough pants or too many tops that do not go with anything or tops that I never wear that I hope to wear when I am away – which of course never happens, I realize that bringing and packing essentials is the only way to travel.

One of the easiest ways to pack for a vacation is to bring everything in monochromatic colors like black, white, grey, navy, so that there are no color coordinating issues. I know this may seem a little dull, but if want to look put together without having to worry if your floral top will go with your boyfriend jeans or if it is just too many trends going on, it is probably best to stick with the non printed essentials.

One of my favorite from the runway Little Black Dresses for the season is the Diane Von Furstenberg perfect little black dress. I love this dress because it is ladylike, pretty, simple, and flattering without looking too over the top. So if you take this dress with you on one of your summer trips you will sure to get a lot of use out of it.

For example, if you are traveling to New York City  – this dress will have multiple uses. I can see this dress being used for a trip to the museum and lunch, a night out with a pair of pumps, afternoon tea at the Plaza, or drinks at Balthazar. Whatever you plan on doing, this dress will be your go to LBD or Little Black Dress on your trips this summer.

Diane Von Furstenberg’s Perfect Little Black Dress for $385 is just perfect for your summer travels.

As a girl who is average height (on good days) I love wedges. They add height, without looking out of place at work or at the beach. If you’re looking for height, or just a kick-ass pair of heels that won’t sink into the grass at a barbeque, then wedges are for you. Here are our top 5 open toe wedges:

1)  Robert Clergerie Deba Wedge: These casual and chic espadrille style wedges have a knotted leather straps and leather lining, for a super comfortable fit. You can grab a pair, on sale for $415.99.

2)   Diane Von Furstenberg Opal Wedges: This edgy pair of shoes is designed for a true trendsetter and wedge lover. It has leather upper, lining and insole, with a wood tone outsole. The avant-garde notching is perfect to dress up an outfit for a summer cocktail party. They are on sale for $239.99.

3)   KORS Michael Kors Windsor Espadrilles: Whether or not these shoes are named after royalty, they are certainly royal in concept and design. They leather sandal with contrast straps give the wearer a secure fit, and make for the perfect accent to a black bag or blouse. You can buy these at Shopbop for $195.

4)   Splendid Perfect Sling Back Sandals: These sandals are a must-have for the beach. The nautical stripe would be cute to pair with a bathing suit and a cover-up. You can buy these for only $84 at Shopbop.

5)   Dolce Vita Olly Suede Espadrilles: These peep-toe espadrilles are on our list because they are great for night or for day. The wedge heel makes them a cute pair of sandals to wear in the day but the sophisticated peep-toe and ankle strap easily transform them into a heel for nighttime. You can buy these for $119.

Summer is a time for rest, shopping and of course, new bags. What’s better than a small, easy crossbody? Here are my top 5 summer crossbody bags:

1.)      Diane von Furstenberg Mini Harper Bag: This leather crossbody comes in hibiscus, a bright red shade and has a long, adjustable chain strap. It also has a lined pocket on the inside to put all your small things in. You can buy this bag at for $295.

2)       Anya Hindmarch Mini Gracie Bag: This bag is made of beige pebbled leather and has a front flap with a turn-lock closure. The inside is lined with the classic bow print and has an extra pocket. Pick up this bag for $650.

3. Tory Burch Robinson Mini Bag: Even though it’s summer it is still nice to have some darker bags to match with your brighter outfits. This Tory Burch crossbody comes in black and dark brown leather, and has gold hardware and straps. Grab this from for $365.

4)     Lanvin Mini Pop Crossbody Bag: This beautiful bag comes in gray and black crinkle calfskin. Personally, I think the gray is a better choice for summer but either way you can’t go wrong with this bag. The bag’s gold chain has grosgrain ribbon woven through it, and a logo medallion attached at the top. You can buy this at Neiman Marcus for $1,450.

5)     Lanvin Mini Happy Crossbody Bag: Lanvin’s small crossbody is perfect to throw over the shoulder and comes in three great colors: black, blue and rose pink. The pink is definitely the most summery of the three, but black makes for a great bag year round. Pick up this bag at Neiman Marcus for $1,490.

Best Pink Tops for Summer 2012

Summer is right around the corner, and it’s about time what we start looking at the world through rose-colored glasses, or should I say blouses? Pinks and oranges are starting to replace the colder hues of winter. Here are the top 5 pink tops of this season:

Diane Von Furstenberg Cahill Stretch Silk Peasant Blouse: This slightly pinker than coral blouse has pintuck pleats at the front and back of the neck, which gives it a relaxed shape. You can buy this silk top at Bloomingdales for $225.

Haute Hippie Fly Away Tank: The best parts about this shirt are the flattering cascade ruffles and the great color. Sometimes pinks can end up being too close to skin color but the coral and grapefruit hue is perfect. Grab this at Shopbop for $235.

Finders Keepers Into My World Shirt: If you’re going to wear pink, then go bold. This hot pink tank has a great fold-over collar, front pleats and a cutout back. Buy this at Shopbop for only $110.

Patterson J. Kincaid Yardey Blouse: This semi-sheer long slaved chiffon blouse is perfect for an afternoon out. It’s light, airy, and casual while still being effortlessly elegant and classy. Pick this up at Shopbop for $138.

Patterson J. Kincaid Flemming Tie Neck Tank: The tie style collar dresses up such a simple top. This sheer tank comes in neon coral, yellow and pink. Personally the yellow reminds me too much of a highlighter, but the coral and pink are both beautiful. Buy either of those colors at Shopbop for $108.

Does your mom love lilac? I am a mom and I love lilac. I actually would buy both of these pieces for myself for Mother’s Day – Happy Mother’s Day to me. For your mom, if she is a fan of Diane Von Furstenberg and a fan of lilac, get her this pretty silk top from Diane Von Furstenberg and these flattering lilac trousers. An impeccably-tailored trouser updated in featherweight stretch viscose and cropped just slightly above the ankle. She can wear it all together or as separates. This color is so big this season you may as well snatch it up anytime you see it. Next season the sea of turquoise and lilacs will not be as prevalent. I am getting everything from bags to shoes in this color. I just think it is so pretty for spring. And for good measure, mom may need a new bag, how about this amazing Ralph Lauren saddle bag in a pretty sky blue. You won’t see this piece around for long. If you shop before April 29, 2012 you also get 20% off your total purchase for Saks Friends and Family event.

White Hot Dresses for Spring from Theyskens to Diane Von Furstenberg

on February 24th, 2012

Theyskens' Theory Dystie DressAs Spring is finally approaching, we can now finally start to put the dark hues of our wardrobes away and bring in the new season with brighter, cheerier colors. For this year’s Spring, the color of choice is not pastels or bright pinks, but it is actually white: simple, timeless, and striking. Now, you may be thinking that white dresses in Spring seem very “tea party,” or “country club.” Contrary to this notion, white dresses will actually pose a stylish threat this season. Although you may have some white dresses already hanging in your closet, take a look at these five options that give a new spin on the classic white dress.

The first is the Theyskens’ Theory Dystie Dress available for $695. It’s a metallic tweed dress with a scoop neck that slightly flares at the waist creating a few subtle pleats. The tweed texture and high neckline give it an elegant twist that is quite different than your average white shift dress.

The next is the Diane von Furstenberg Leeandra Flower Lace Dress  available for $425. The long sleeves and semi-masculine collar provide a nice balance to the large lace pattern overlay that creates a sense of femininity.

The next style of white dress for the upcoming season is one like the Nellie Partow Ava Dress available for $845 that features a drop waist with side cutouts, creating a fabulous silhouette. The exposed seam on the waist provides the just enough trendiness and shape.

The Beyond Vintage V Neck Lace Batwing Dress available for $249 is one of my favorite new styles of white dresses for Spring and we should be seeing a lot like these for the upcoming season. The scalloped lace edges on the dress make it have a gorgeous hemline and the dainty yet billowy sleeves are complimentary on any figure. It is sweet and sophisticated all in one. The last white dress grabs a new take on the traditional white goddess dresses that we have gotten so used to seeing in the warmer months.

The BCBGMAXAZRIA Magdalena Gown  available for $348 gives an almost casual chicness to the idea of a floor length white dress. Its sheer mesh cutouts at the neck and on the sides give it just the right amount of sex appeal while still allowing it to maintain its classy nature. These five different styles and takes on the traditional white Spring dress will almost certainly be seen on the trendiest fashionistas and most glamorous celebrities who know how to spot a staple item of clothing that has been reinstituted as a unique fashion treasure.

Last night, Kate Middleton now Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge was seen in a green silk Diane Von Furstenberg dress with Prince William at a private reception at the British Consul-General’s house in Los Angeles. The dress was beautifully appropriate in its vibrant green color with its very tastefully simple style. She looked as a princess should poised and naturally gorgeous.
