Spring 2011 Fashion Trends: Must Haves Shoes and Bags
What a harsh, snow-laden winter it’s been. Greys and monochromatic palettes ruled the runways in the fall, with Mad Men-inspired 50s attire making an overdue comeback. But, that’s all in the past now. According to our furry weather-predicting groundhog, Spring is fast approaching and bringing with it the latest fashion trends: bolder, “hyper” colors and a nod to YSL-inspired 70s chic; high-waisted, wide-leg trousers, skirts with longer hemlines, lace and goddess gowns are also in store. Naturally, you’ll want to pair your shoes and handbags accordingly, either playing them up when complimenting the return of white to your closet, or going neutral (and textured) when wearing bolder prints and eye-catching colors.

Bowler Bags Are My Spring Handbag Obsession!
Usually when it comes to big fashion purchases like a brand-new handbag, I’m ridiculously picky. I need the perfect mix of practical, easy to carry, and on-trend, yet at the same time versatile enough to take me through the next few style seasons (quite a fashion feat). So normally, a bowler bag — with its round cumbersome shape that hardly fits at your side and the short stumpy handles — definitely wouldn’t top my list of must-haves. However, catching glimpses of all the celebs rocking their own modernized versions has me rethinking my usual bag-buying rules! Sure, it’s not the most practical shape for easy carrying, but you have to admit — it’s pretty darn cute and they expand to fit much more than you would expect from their stocky size. Plus, how can you resist one of the hottest handbag trends of the spring season? Opt for a festive seasonal color like poppy, or go for eye-catching spring sequins like this Pauric Sweeney bowler. Would you wear your Tom Ford sunglasses, Tory Burch boucle Chanel jacket, leather pants, and ankle booties? Would you wear this look while strolling in New York City this Christmas? Would you use it as an everyday bag ala Jane Birkin? I love the overstuffed look of having all of your office files or clothing in the Hermes birkin bag. Or if you are really luck you may find a Hermes Barenia Birkin bag with gold hardware in 35cm that is no longer being made because of the worldwide leather shortage. Whatever bag you decide you want, the consignment stores are always a great place to look. You will get somewhat of a more one of a kind piece then going to the Hermes store and hoping to find a birkin and be relegated to buying whatever color they have available in the store at the time.
