How to Create Afternoon Tea at Home and Where to Buy the Accessories

How to Create Afternoon tea at homeEver wonder how to create afternoon tea at home like in the hotels? I always love how they set it up with their champagne glasses, teapots, silver tiered serving trays, and china tea cups. Having had tea time in more than one hotel in the last 20 years, I decided to invest in my own set of tea time essentials so that I could create my own afternoon tea service at home on a rainy Sunday afternoon. I use the Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel tea time as my example for how to set up a perfect afternoon tea.

As seen in this photo I took on a recent afternoon tea at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, I noticed that they use silver tiered platters like the one you can get from A& B Home or Overstock, champagne glasses like the ones from Wayfair, china tea cups with patterns like the ones you can get from Chairish, and china plates from Overstock, One Kings Lane, or Selfridges. It is all in the details as you see from this photo.

And once you have the tea settings in your home, you can proceed to make homemade open faced tea sandwiches in a variety of flavors from watercress and cucumber to salmon to egg salad. Lay them out next to some lemon curd, scones, and clotted cream with a selection of teas and some flowers and assorted condiments like sliced lemon, honey, and sugar, and you are all set for a rainy afternoon treat.
