Christian Louboutin Peep Toe Slingbacks at Cannes 2011
Gwen Stefani is no stranger to spotlights and flash bulbs. She knows precisely how to greet admirers – and one of her best kept fashion secrets was recently revealed: Christian Louboutin Lady Peep Peep Toe sling back pumps. The famously-rather-short former “No Doubt” vocalist chose these shiny pumps (set onto a beach ball platform) clearly to get a little lift. (The covered heel is 5 and 7/8 inches!) as well as to enjoy a spot of comfort while traipsing the red carpet.
The pump features padded leather lining, stretch sling back, signature red sole and other touches and finesses (these shoes are made in Italy, so one should expect serious craftsmanship). What you see is what you get here: fun, Orange County summer appropriate footwear. At once modern and beachy but also decidedly upscale. A well-healed tourist on the Island of Capri might wear these pumps; you’d be less likely to find them on the feet of the ladies who star in Jersey Shore.
For comparison, consider these Vince Camuto Ashleigh Sandals – there may not be as summer-y, or offer as high of a lift (only 4 inches), but they are 100% leather, have a front zip closure, and they likely will piece together well with a lot of your other spring/summer outfits… even if they are less “beachy and bold” than Ms. Stefani’s pumps du jour.
